Currently, there are 20 states that are issuing the 2023 Summer P-EBT Payments for August 2023.

2023 Summer P-EBT Payments
Children who receive free or reduced-price meals under the National School Lunch Act are eligible to receive P-EBT benefits for Summer 2023.
P-EBT also provides benefits to younger children in households participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) whose covered child care facility is operating with reduced hours or attendance.
On January 30th 2023, the Biden Administration announced that the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) declaration will end on May 11, 2023.
As a result, children under 6 in households participating in SNAP will not be eligible for Summer 2023 P-EBT benefits.
However, school children who attended an NSLP-participating school at the end of school year 2022-23 will still be eligible for summer 2023 P-EBT benefits.
Additionally, all P-EBT benefits, for both the school year and the summer, must be distributed by September 30, 2023.
Eligibility for Summer P-EBT (2023)
Households with eligible school children will receive P-EBT benefits for Summer 2023.
The following school children are eligible for PEBT benefits:
School children who attended a National School Lunch Program (NSLP) participating school at the during school year 2022 – 2023 and qualified to receive free or reduced price school meals.
This includes:
- School children who attended a school that participated in the Community Eligibility Provision or Special Provisions 2 or 3 in school year 2022 – 2023.
- Children who were directly certified for free school meals or who were certified by application for free or reduced price school meals during school year 2022 – 2023.
School children who attended a National School Lunch Program participating school at the end of school year 2022 – 2023 and are determined newly eligible for free or reduced price school meals.
Children in schools or school districts that have been newly approved to begin operating under the Community Eligibility Provision or under Provisions 2 or 3 in school year 2022 – 2023 are only eligible for Summer P-EBT 2023 benefits if they are determined income eligible or eligible for free or reduced school meals.

American Samoa
The American Samoa has been approved to issue $1.9 Million in P-EBT Benefits to 14,050 school children during Summer 2023.
American Samoa Summer PEBT Payment Amount for 2023: $139 per child
Summer P-EBT 2023 Payment Dates for American Samoa:
- Payments Sent: Tuesday, August 15th through Friday, September 29th, 2023
All American Samoa households with eligible school children will receive their 2023 Summer P-EBT benefits in the form of food coupons by September 30, 2023.
Arizona
Arizona has been approved to issue $66 Million in P-EBT Benefits to 550,000 school children during Summer 2023.

Summer P-EBT 2023 Payment Dates for Arizona:
- First Round: July 14th
- Second Round: August 4th
- Clean-Up Round for any Missed School Children: August 14th
All Arizona households with eligible school children will receive their 2023 Summer P-EBT payments by September 30, 2023.

California
California has been approved to issue $66 Million in P-EBT Benefits to 550,000 school children during Summer 2023.
California Summer PEBT Payment Amount for 2023: $120 per child
Summer P-EBT 2023 Payment Dates for California:
- Ongoing Payments: July 16th – August 30th
California P-EBT 4.0 Cards will be mailed from July 16th to August 30th. Cards will be mailed to the address on file with CALPADS.
All California households with eligible school children will receive their 2023 Summer P-EBT payments by September 30, 2023.

CMNI
Over 10,000 eligible school children in Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands (CMNI) households will be issued their 2023 Summer P-EBT benefits.
CMNI Summer P-EBT Payment Amount for 2023: $139 per eligible child
CMNI Summer P-EBT Payment Dates: August 2023
Benefits will automatically be added to your CMNI EBT or P-EBT Card.
If you do not have an existing CMNI EBT or P-EBT Card, a new one will be sent to you in the mail before the payment date.
Colorado
Colorado has been approved to issue $45.6 Million in P-EBT Benefits to 380,000 school children during Summer 2023.

- Payments Beginning: Late August 2023
