2023 Summer P-EBT Payments
Children who receive free or reduced-price meals under the National School Lunch Act are eligible to receive P-EBT benefits for Summer 2023.
P-EBT also provides benefits to younger children in households participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) whose covered child care facility is operating with reduced hours or attendance.
On January 30th 2023, the Biden Administration announced that the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) declaration will end on May 11, 2023.
As a result, children under 6 in households participating in SNAP will not be eligible for Summer 2023 P-EBT benefits.
However, school children who attended an NSLP-participating school at the end of school year 2022-23 will still be eligible for summer 2023 P-EBT benefits.
Additionally, all P-EBT benefits, for both the school year and the summer, must be distributed by September 30, 2023.
Eligibility for Summer P-EBT (2023)
Households with eligible school children will receive P-EBT benefits for Summer 2023.
The following school children are eligible for PEBT benefits:
School children who attended a National School Lunch Program (NSLP) participating school at the during school year 2022 – 2023 and qualified to receive free or reduced price school meals.
This includes:
- School children who attended a school that participated in the Community Eligibility Provision or Special Provisions 2 or 3 in school year 2022 – 2023.
- Children who were directly certified for free school meals or who were certified by application for free or reduced price school meals during school year 2022 – 2023.
School children who attended a National School Lunch Program participating school at the end of school year 2022 – 2023 and are determined newly eligible for free or reduced price school meals.
Children in schools or school districts that have been newly approved to begin operating under the Community Eligibility Provision or under Provisions 2 or 3 in school year 2022 – 2023 are only eligible for Summer P-EBT 2023 benefits if they are determined income eligible or eligible for free or reduced school meals.

Currently, 7 of the 46 approved states for Summer P-EBT 2023 will be issuing their payments in September.
These states include:

Connecticut has been approved to issue $35 Million in P-EBT Benefits to 291,057 school children during Summer 2023.
Connecticut Summer PEBT Payment Amount for 2023: $120 per child
Summer P-EBT 2023 Payment Dates for Connecticut:
- SNAP, TANF, and Medicaid (MA) households: September 3, 2023
- Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) and School Meals’ Application households: September 16, 2023
- Catch-up for missed children and newly approved households: September 17, 2023 & September 24, 2023
All Connecticut households with eligible school children will receive their 2023 Summer P-EBT payments by September 30, 2023.

Florida
Florida has been approved to issue $264 Million in P-EBT Benefits to 2.2 Million school children during Summer 2023.

- Payments Begin: July 1st, 2023 and run through September 2023
All Florida households with eligible school children will receive their 2023 Summer P-EBT payments by December 30, 2023.

Iowa has been approved to issue $28.8 Million in P-EBT Benefits to 240,000 school children during Summer 2023.
Iowa Summer PEBT Payment Amount for 2023: $120 per child
Summer P-EBT 2023 Payment Dates for Iowa:
- Payments Begin: September 14th and run through September 21st, 2023
All Illinois households with eligible school children will receive their 2023 Summer P-EBT payments by November 30, 2023.

Maine has been approved to issue $16.8 Million in P-EBT Benefits to 140,000 school children during Summer 2023.

- Payments Begin: Tuesday, August 1, 2023 and run through Saturday, September 30, 2023
All New York households with eligible school children will receive their 2023 Summer P-EBT payments by December 31, 2023.
