Who qualifies for the Restaurant Meals Program?
The Rhode Island Restaurant Meals Program is available to participants that meet a specific eligibility criteria. To qualify for RMP, every person in the household must meet one or more of the following conditions:
- Disabled – the person is receiving Social Security benefits; Railroad Retirement benefits Annuities; or other disability payments.
- Elderly – the person is 60 years of age or older.
- Homeless – the person does not have a fixed or regular nighttime residence.
If your household meets this criteria, you will be eligible to purchase lower-cost prepared, hot meals at approved restaurants and fast food chains throughout Rhode Island.
Restaurant Meals Program Requirements
To use your EBT Card at restaurants and fast-food chains in Rhode Island, you must first meet certain requirements.
To be eligible for the Restaurant Meals Program, you must:
- Be currently enrolled and receiving Rhode Island food stamp benefits

The USDA’s Online Purchasing Program makes shopping for groceries with your EBT Card even easier. This year, the federal government approved Rhode Island SNAP participants to purchase groceries with their EBT Card online.
