Our post today is going to walk you through the steps to successfully create a MyBenefits CalWIN account. MyBenefits CalWIN is an online benefits system used in select California counties by the Department of Social Services to manage government benefits. The MyBenefits CalWIN website (www.MyBenefitsCalWIN.orgcan be used to apply for benefits or continue an application, check your case status and benefit amount, check your EBT balance and transactions, determine eligibility for other assistance programs, submit your reports or renew your benefits, view your notices, submit documents, and request a replacement card.

Currently, residents in the following counties can use the MyBenefits CalWIN website:

  • Alameda County
  • Contra Costa County
  • Fresno County
  • Orange County
  • Placer County
  • Sacramento County
  • San Diego County
  • San Francisco County
  • San Luis Obispo County
  • San Mateo County
  • Santa Barbara County
  • Santa Clara County
  • Santa Cruz County
  • Solano County
  • Sonoma County
  • Tulare County
  • Ventura County
  • Yolo County

Residents that do not live in one of the counties listed above cannot use the MyBenefits CalWIN website to apply or manage their government benefits online. If you live in Los Angeles County, you must use the Your Benefits Now website to apply for benefits or manage your current benefits. For those residents that live in one of the approved counties listed above, the MyBenefits CalWIN website supports the following medical, food and cash assistance programs:

  • CalWORKS – California’s medical assistance program that offers free or low-cost health coverage to those adults and children with limited income and resources.

 

  • CalFresh – California’s food assistance program that provides monthly benefits to assist low-income households purchase the food they need to maintain adequate nutrition.

 

  • Medi-Cal – California’s Medicaid health care program that covers medical services for adults and children with limited income and resources.

If you would like to apply to receive benefits from any of the programs listed above, or you are currently enrolled and receiving benefits from one of the programs and would like to manage your benefits, you can do so by creating a MyBenefits CalWIN online account. In order to apply for benefits online or manage/view your current benefits, you must have a MyBenefits CalWIN account. The first step in creating your online account is to visit the MyBenefits CalWIN website at www.mybenefitscalwin.org. Once you are on the MyBenefits CalWIN account homepage, click on the yellow Create Account button. The Create Account button is located on the middle right-hand side of the homepage (see image below).

Once you click the Create Account button, you will be redirected to a page where you’ll be asked to either Create an Account or Sign In. Please proceed to the Create an Account section located on the left-hand side of the page. Once you have located the Create an Account section, click the yellow Create a MyBenefits Account button (see image below).

Once you click the button to Create a MyBenefits Account, you’ll be asked to select which county in California you reside in from the list (see image below). Please proceed by selecting your county. Please note, if you select a county that is not served by MyBenefits CalWIN, you will be asked to visit their site in order to create an account.

Once you have selected your county, you will be taken to a new page where you’ll be asked to enter your contact information. Please provide your first name, last name, email address, and language in the appropriate field boxes (see image below). After completing this information, please click the Continue button located at the bottom of the page.

After completing your contact information, you will have to enter your sign-in information for your MyBenefits CalWIN account (see image below). Please create a Username and Password for your account by following the criteria provided. You will also have to select three different secret questions and answers. These questions will be used to reset or retrieve your Username or Password for your account if you have forgotten it. The last thing you must do is choose an image for your account. To do so, select an option from the image type drop-down menu, click on an image, and enter a name. Once you have completed all of these steps, click the Continue button.

After completing your sign-in information and clicking the Continue button, you will be taken to the last step of creating your MyBenefits CalWIN account – the detailed information. In this step, you will have to chose whether or not you would like your case (benefit) information displayed on the website. Please read each option carefully and select your response – yes or no. Once you have selected your response, please proceed by entering your Social Security Number and Date of Birth into the appropriate field boxes (see image below). Once all information has been completed, click the Continue button.

Once you have completed the detailed information step and clicked the Continue button, you should be brought to a Confirmation page stating the successful creation of your My Benefits CalWIN account. You can now proceed to login to your account by entering your Username and Password on the Login Page. Be sure to save your Username and Password in a safe place for future login use.
