Income Guidelines
Of all the guidelines, the income qualification is probably the most important. That is because the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) wants to make sure that you actually need food assistance and the best way to review that is to look at your income, both gross income and net income and the number of people in your household. Step 3
Interview

In the letter that is mailed to you inviting you for the interview, there may be instructions in there on what to bring to the interview. If your application is missing some documents, you will be asked to bring them to the interview. Step 4
Receive Your EBT Card
If your interview is successful and your application is approved, you will be issued an EBT Card. EBT Card works like a bank debit card. Each month, your food stamps benefit allocation will be deposited into your EBT Card account. You can then use the card to buy food at approved locations.
