6 Benefits Buying Your Food at the Farmers Market

There are many benefits to buying your food at a local farmers market. Here are the top six benefits.

You’ll save money.

The produce you buy from your local farmers market is usually cheaper when compared to what you get at a chain supermarket or grocery store.

Better Tasting

The fruits and vegetables you buy at the farmers market are the freshest and tastiest available because the produce at your local farmers market was most likely harvested earlier that day.

Eating Seasonally

Food simply tastes better when it is in season. It also means that you are buying food that has traveled a shorter distance to get to your table.

Great Variety

There is usually an amazing variety of fruits and veggies at your local farmers market when compared to your chain grocery store.

It’s Healthy

Eating fresh, locally-grown fruits and veggies are great for your health because local farmers take more care to cultivate their produce than large industrial farms, where most of the food you buy at chain grocery stores come from.

Support Local Farmers

Instead of giving your money to large corporations, you’re supporting local farmers and small business owners when you shop at a local farmers market. This helps keep the money in your local community and supports your local economy and jobs.
